"It is a very useful tool for those who venture into recovering the historical roots of the village and try to value those places, facts, anecdotes and legends that mark our past."
With these words described the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, the last book of Mariano Garrido Pelegrín entitled "Commemorative plaques of the districts of Murcia", whose presentation took place this afternoon at the Palace Almudí.
In it, the author helps to extend knowledge of the history of the town through the catalog of 177 plates of 55 districts, supplemented by references to the relevant social and historical environment.
The book allows knowing trivia and biographies of the most important characters, and provides data on the economy, customs, historical and natural heritage, gastronomy and religious devotions.
The relationship plates reproduced in this book include both historical character as onomastic, inaugural, honorary or chronological.
In all cases, however, Mariano Pelegrín analyzed to identify those most the district, most historical and, especially, regarding his famous characters, as "that really define the people and where are its roots "said the mayor, who also stressed the importance of this work to increase" knowledge of the districts, its people and its traditions. "
