López: "The municipal PP has no legitimacy to bury the remains of St. Stephen, so you should submit it to a referendum" (29/05/2013)

Socialist Party spokesman, Pedro Lopez, has shown today against the decision announced by the city, according to a regional media-to bury the archaeological remains of St. Stephen and restore this square for public use.

According to López, "La Glorieta PP has not shown the slightest interest over the years by the heritage found in St. Stephen, so it has no legitimacy to decide buried archaeological finds."

"We will not accept this decision that should be subject to a referendum because it is the heritage of all Murcia" said Socialist spokesman, who regrets that after years of doing nothing, the PP decides preemptively bury these remains that, in his opinion, "once covered, it is normal that their rediscovery, as has happened with most of the historical and cultural heritage found in Murcia and buried over the years."

Following a meeting with members of HUERMUR, Lopez continues to advocate the enhancement and conservation of the site because "it is a unique opportunity for tourism and the economy of Murcia."

There is a project to address in a year, but we should not waste a minute more to make this investment a reality long term-has expressed PSOE spokesman who has demanded that the local government before making rash decisions convene a committee of experts to determine the phases, conditions, excavation techniques and enhancement of the historic.

Finally, Lopez recalls municipal PP is the city of Murcia, according to the National Heritage Act and regional, to be a BIC, the head of its value and conservation, something that is not compatible with the use you want to give, as published in leading daily.
