Concludes comprehensive restoration Tuna Monument, symbol of San Basilio (13/05/2013)

A symbol of San Basilio and Murcia tunas look again at its best.

The City of Murcia, through MurciaEscultura program of the Department of Culture, dedicated to the recovery and enhancement of the historical heritage of the city, successfully completed the restoration of popular Tuna Monument, designed by Miguel Llamas, and is located in the garden of St. Basil, next to the pergola.

The monument had suffered several attacks in recent months.

In one of them was stolen bronze tambourine up an important part of the piece.

On another occasion, unknown network of ropes ripped and stole indentificativa plate, which has now been restored in aluminum to prevent another assault.

The restoration work of the work has been done by the author himself.

The Tuna Monument was inaugurated on April 19, 1997 and became a symbol of the International Tuna Festival held annually in San Basilio pergola.
