The Department of Environment has awarded the fifteen plots in the Garden Leisure Garden of orchards in Churra Castellar.
The total area of ​​946 square meters and the gardens are enclosed with a fence of 2.5 meters high and 80 centimeters apart.
Besides the leisure garden shed has a tools of six square meters.
It has also created a waiting list of five people in case there was any waiver.
The users that has been allotted a plot can make use of it for two years, renewable for another two.
The aim of this initiative is to combine the benefits of this type of orchards with environmental and economic benefits representing landraces conservation endangered and maintenance of an agroecosystem is of great interest as the old Huerta de Murcia, being the general objectives:
- Use local farmland as social orchards under organic production systems and traditional.
- Recover and preserve local varieties of the Huerta de Murcia.
- Develop educational achievement, training and outreach.
