The Museum of Science and Water hosts an exhibition on earthquakes and volcanoes (09/01/2013)

The Museum of Science and Water of Murcia presents this Christmas a presentation on earthquakes, volcanoes and mountain ranges, which seeks to know and understand these natural phenomena to reduce the risks they are exposed millions.

In recent decades geology has experienced rapid development, new technologies have allowed us to investigate the interior of the Earth, to better understand the dynamics of the mantle and the core and get to have a more intense about the Earth's interior.

Although we now know where, how and why they happen, in the case of earthquakes is not yet possible to predict.

In our country, the May 11 earthquake in Lorca should mark a before and after in seismic prevention because the lessons we learn today will help to reduce losses and save lives tomorrow.

Know and respect the planet on which we live has become a necessity as well as an obligation to our society today.

"When the earth shakes" is an exhibition featuring the latest knowledge about these natural phenomena.

It consists of large format signage, graphic and written information detailed on the interior of the Earth, earthquakes and volcanoes, emphasizing the Lorca earthquake of 2011 and the fault responsible with its displacement of the shock that rocked this population of Murcia.

The exhibition is divided into five areas:

- Earth.

A dynamic planet and energetic.

- Volcanoes: a window into the Earth.

- Earthquakes: do not know when, but where, how and why.

- The May 11 earthquake.

- The hydrotherapy.
