IU-Greens criticized the "limited fund" Tourist Card and considers the "curious" that was submitted at the end of August (29/08/2012)

The IU-Greens councilor in Murcia, José Ignacio Tornel, today criticized the "limited fund" card 'Murcia Tourist Card', a tourism promotion tool promoted by the City Council, and considered "odd" that was presented yesterday at the end of the high season of tourism.

Tornel has said it does not know the reasons why the council has the card a few days before the end of August, although he recalled that the latest data published by the National Statistics Institute regarding tourist occupation are "nothing positive" to the Region.

In his opinion, "include two aspects to this strategy of the Department of Tourism, which have more to do with the background of cultural and tourist attractions of this city willing to own Tourist Card as a tool."

First, has highlighted the "very low" cultural offer that the city offers to visitors, and that does not include musical and theatrical programming "in the two newly opened theaters in Murcia", although this type of show "can be a huge attraction, "

And secondly, "the inconceivable absence of tenders in transport tickets again uncovers poor resource settings of this city in the face of its cultural, tourist and economic".

In this sense, gave as an example the historical complex of Monteagudo, since "if abandoned would not follow cultural attraction in need of transportation."

"In this way, cultural and urban policy governed by the City Council Chamber has determined a city with few attractions themselves" stressed Tornel, after insisting that "in any case, we intend to assess the first Councillor for Tourism of Murcia in three decades that serves as such. "
