The PSOE councilor, Susana Hernandez, the City proposes to launch an urgent campaign to collect used textbooks as a means of support for needy families before the arrival of the new school year.

The mayor has sent a communication to the inside for Education asking the city government to make an effort to coordinate a large local bank books in collaboration with schools and parents association enabling collection points in schools and in the Municipal Boards

Thus, Hernandez believes that this year's 'back to school' will be particularly tough for many families due to the economic crisis and it is the obligation of the City to develop initiatives to help those who are faring worse.

"For years, the AMPAS initiatives are underway in many schools to encourage the recycling of textbooks, but we believe that this campaign addressed and publicized from the City Council as in other towns in Spain have more success" says the PSOE mayor.

Furthermore, Susana Hernandez notes that "this initiative is not only a financial but also contributes to teach values such as respect for the environment by its obvious connotations and solidarity among peers forcing the student to retain each book in the best conditions taking into account which will then be used by another student. "

The Socialist councilor recalls that "we are confident that the solidarity of many murcianos allow those textbooks that are to be used can be used by other schools with fewer resources."
