20,000 schoolchildren discover the journey made from home waste to disposal (07/08/2012)

Within the awareness campaign developed by the City Council through Cespa, service concessionaire.

Besides visiting the treatment center Cañada Hermosa, also give talks in schools and celebrated the annual drawing competition involving more than 8,000 students.

Jose Ros recalls the importance of "keeping our ecological awareness on alert" and "improving our habits regarding recycling and caring for our environment."

Hence the importance of public awareness campaign that each year the city of Murcia develops through Cespa, concessionary of this service, which in 2011 saw the participation of more than 25,000 Murcia, almost 20,000 of them schoolchildren.

One of her most in demand is the visit to the Treatment of Municipal Solid Waste Cañada Hermosa, where about 3,200 students from 6th grade attended "in situ" the "journey" that perform the municipal waste we generate, from its origin in households to disposal or recovery.

In 2011 lived this experience 121 groups of 6 of 85 primary schools, plus 3 PEEM institutes and students of El Palmar, Fundown and Astrapace.

The visit gave them the opportunity to meet individual residues therein are and discover the chain of recycling, the environmental benefits involved and the role we play each to achieve these objectives.

After the talk in the classroom for environmental education, the students toured the treatment center for their facilities, from the recycling plant at the landfill, the selection of plant containers, the biogas plant and the composting of organic waste .

Councilmember Urban Cleaning and Waste Management, Joseph Ros, stressed the importance of developing awareness campaign with students referred to the urban hygiene, recycling and the environment to help "develop new attitudes in the care of our environment. "

Clean dirty more and less

- Visit to the treatment center by groups interested in the management carried out in Murcia with the waste generated by the population.

Over a thousand people made the visit last year, including the universities of Murcia, Elche, Orihuela and UPTC, as well as institutes of the region.
