The Family of Pascual Duarte is a story about the Black Spain, the Spain of violence deep, buried or expressed, vengeance, family feuds and suffocating.

Pascual Duarte is essentially a good man, but because of the much-touted concept of conditioning and the influence of the environment has just become a murderer.

'I, sir, I'm not bad, although I would lack reason to be'.

It is the beginning of the first famous novel by Camilo Jose Cela.

Duarte is a peasant child of an alcoholic Extremadura, which has its own life while awaiting execution in the condemned cell to death.

Victim of an inexorable fate, Pascual Duarte is primitive and elemental dominated by violence, known only response to betrayal and deception.

The story is shown in its theatrical release as a treatment ontological and ethical life, where there is more concern about deepening the substance of things in the pursuit of their causes.

Thomas Gayo in adapting and Gerardo Malla at the address have been mitigated in this release to the theater rusticismo primitive tendency to ugliness and deformity, and the tragic violence that follows the novel, but a few scenic detail.

The theater is a risky bet, on the words of a text that was widely read, necessarily, in secondary schools a few years ago.
