The School Board of Murcia celebrates a conference on media and education (16/04/2012)

The School Board of the Murcia Region has organized its eleventh meeting in order to analyze the influence of media in education.

The main objective is to reflect on the valuable aspects and insecurities and threats offered by media like television and internet.

The School Board President of the Region of Murcia, Luis Navarro Candel, today introduced the conference by the Councillor for Education of the City of Murcia, Maria Dolores Sanchez.

Sanchez stressed the importance of these meetings which will discuss the pros and cons of the screens that surround children and youth (computers, television, tablets, mobile phones, video games, etc).

These 'screens' are full of content and opportunities for information and entertainment, sometimes colliding with the core values that parents want to pass on to children.

Among the contents of the meetings is business structure and ideology of the major media groups in Spain, omnipresence of the screens, living with the media and family and media.

The conference will be held in Calasparra, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cartagena, Cieza, San Javier, Molina de Segura, Puerto Lumbreras, Torre Pacheco, Las Torres de Cotillas and Yecla.

Murcia's meeting will be held on April 18th with the conference 'The persuasive power of advertising on children and adolescents' by Jesus Martinez Sanchez, and on 19 April,' The bright side of television: children's channels politemáticos educational and instructional use at home and school ', by Maria del Mar Rodriguez Rosell.
