Professor at the University of Murcia Francisco Guillén was responsible for coordinating the drafting of a number of proposals submitted to the political parties that aim to adopt the measures necessary for the conservation of geodiversity Spanish.

Another initiative relates to the desirability of promoting public and private activities oriented towards the study and classification of geological heritage, conservation and educational use, dissemination and sustainable tourism.
Scientists also call the declaration of new protected areas and national parks "to cover all natural systems and representative geologic units in Spain."
