The City Council supports this initiative that will more fully understand all parts of the Region

With the aim of encouraging all existing knowledge about the history, geography and culture in the Region of Murcia, born the Geographical Society of the Region of Murcia (SGRM), whose main aim: to serve the region as a promoter of geographical knowledge in all its aspects.

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Culture, wanted to show their full support for this initiative comes from the work of eight founding members (teachers, adventurers, publishers and lovers of various sports) to be undertaken to develop a strong activity, which started with the launch of a website (www.sgrm.es) that offer all kinds of information from the region and activities carried out SGRM.

The Company is headed by José Francisco Cerezo adventurer and mountaineer is the vice president, Lucia Lopez.

In addition to a website, the company will launch a blog (www.sociedadgeograficarm.wordpress.com) and conduct lectures, talks, trips to different parts of the region, guided tours, etc..

The Geographical Society of the Region of Murcia's main objectives are the following:

1.

Disseminate geographical knowledge, historical, social and cultural development of peoples.

2.

Promote understanding of different cultures and lifestyles of the people.

3.

Develop initiatives that promote connection and cultural exchange between peoples and cultural traditions and knowledge of plurality, diversity and cultural richness of our planet.

4.

Promote and disseminate scientific knowledge aimed at providing a better understanding of the world and the universe.

5.

Promote and disseminate the respect and care of the environmental heritage of our planet and of human diversity.

6.

Help restore the geographical history of the region of Murcia and disseminate the role of Murcia and Murcia in the discovery and dissemination of knowledge about our planet.

7.

To promote and develop interest in the historical, social and cultural Murcia inside and outside its borders, in all its manifestations, including promoting and disseminating the value and contributing to their knowledge and protection.
