Lower-income families have aid to buy textbooks (22/07/2011)

The City grants to associations of parents to carry out activities to encourage student participation

The Councillor for Education, María Dolores Sánchez, explained in Parliament, that the City subsidizes the federation and associations of parents of the municipality with 30,000 euros per year.

Activities eligible for assistance are those that enhance and sustain participation, training and dissemination of students, to enrich the educational center.

In fact, during the 2010/2011 academic year several schools have started recycling workshops books.

On the request of the Municipal Socialist Group of the Ministry of Education implantation of free books, Sanchez explained that the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment, published May 27, 2011 (Borman June 4) the order Call for financial support.

The goal is to benefit families with low incomes.

The maximum amounts of aid will be EUR 110 150 for Primary and ESO.

The overall budget foreseen for this call, charged to the General Budget of the Autonomous Region amounted to 4,240,000 euros.

The Ministry of Education contribute to the financing of this aid with the same amount, bringing the total budget for this purpose will be 8,480,000 euros.

For aid for the purchase of books gives priority to the per capita income of the student's family, claiming aid in reverse order of the magnitude of this income.

The second criterion applied is the largest number of members in the household, and finally, the younger the students benefited.
