High School Students in Spain participating in the Summer Science Campus Mare Nostrum (11/07/2011)

Sixty students from 4 th of ESO and 1 Baccalaureate institutions from Catalonia, Valencia, Andalusia, Asturias, Madrid and Murcia participating this month in the Campus Summer Science organized by the public universities in the region of Murcia for its Campus of Excellence status.

Mare Nostrum is one of 20 Campus of the country that host a total of 1,200 students of ESO and Bachillerato with bright-selected records from over 8,000 applications, to encourage scientific vocations and guide them in their future careers.

For this task the Campus Mare Nostrum has mobilized four faculties and more than 50 faculty and staff from different university departments to carry out practical work, lectures, guided tours and workshops, complementary cultural activities and entertainment.

Summer Campus Mare Nostrum will develop four projects scientific approach: "Food for healthy living with a scientific outlook," "Discover the physical Telecommunications", "Water for Life" and "Biotechnology."

The Rector of the University of Murcia in Convalescence today offered a reception for students participating in the first round, thirty students of 4th ESO, which will run until July 16.

During the event, chaired by the rector, José Antonio Cobacho, accompanied by the Vice Chancellor for Research Excellence and Campus, Juan María Vázquez, and the other responsible for the summer camp, students received a badge of Campus Mare Nostrum.

From 17 to 30 July will be the turn of another group, in this case thirty students of 1st Bachillerato.
