Social Welfare maintains the actions of support, assistance and advocacy to groups that are served from the Department (29/12/2010)

In 2011 it will launch a pilot for the hearing impaired and will start operating three centers of reconciling work and family life and six Senior Centers

The Department of Social Welfare, Gender Equality Policies and Citizenship, directed by Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, launched in 2011 a pioneering experience for the hearing impaired can access the Telecare Service.

The Department is meeting with the company offering this service and with associations of disabled persons in order to adapt Telecare for people with hearing deficits.

This is a pilot project to allow 24-hour service to this community.

In addition, it will provide a number of people in a device that will ensure immediate attention to emergency situations and improve their quality of life and relationship with the environment.

In the area of care for dependent elderly in the municipality, the Department has continued during 2010 has been providing services, registering 996 new high of home help service, passing of 1,697 people who received it in 2009, 1730 this year to provide 363,000 hours of care.

Family Respite Service has continued, with 108 people attended and 16,357 hours of care.

In the Area of Aging, the number of users in the Elderly Centres has increased from 35,000 in 2009 to 35,300 members.

In 2010 it has expanded the Senior Center of Los Ramos, Santiago and Zaraiche and entered into operation of the Rosary Chapel.

In addition, in 2011, will drive the social centers for the elderly, with the opening of the center of San Anton, García Alix, The Rane, Lobosillo, Rincon de Seca, Barrio del Progreso and expansion of the Llano de Brujas, all less than San Antón, funded by the State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability.

The Center for Reconciling Work and Family Life of Juan Carlos I has increased its services to working families, offering respite care for hours loose during class periods in schedule 4 to 8 pm and no school morning and afternoon.

During the class periods occupancy was 90% (have attended between 80 to 90 children aged 6 to 16 years throughout the year from Monday to Friday) and the non-teaching up to 90%.

Summer schools have been at 100% occupancy.

(School holidays has been made in all non-teaching periods: Christmas, Easter, school holidays in June and September and non-school days of educational administration).
