Press release platform Affected by Mortgage of El Palmar (22/12/2010)

From the platform of People Affected by Mortgage of El Palmar, we thank you for your participation to prevent the eviction of his family Olaleikan Loko, the following organizations: Bridges Meeting, Neighborhood Coordinator, Social Forum, affected by Platform Mortgage Murcia region, South Coast Platform is also Murcia, CGT, Sterman-The Inter, United Left, Communist Youth of the region of Murcia and all neighbors of the Rosales, as well as all media communication.

Why has stopped the eviction?

Mainly been stopped by the union of all, to understand that the crisis is affecting everyone and that tomorrow you can touch any family either native or immigrant, especially when the number of families that no member is working and growing with the social drama that is causing this problem.

We're realizing that the fight for our most basic rights has its rewards.

Pressure on governments to take action on the matter.

We are not willing to continue trampling the rights of citizens to life and decent housing.

What we ask and feel?

In recent years, banks and with the complicity of the authorities have filled their pockets at the expense of the weakest, having provided loans with unfair terms, forcing the indebtedness of households, granting personal loans with no fixed term contracts that were not enough collateral to cover loans.

Even these properties being guaranteed by the parent's home, family, friends, etc., Which takes advantage of the banks to acquire new properties.

And make us feel guilty.

Therefore, if you do not have jobs can not pay the mortgage.

So may we have other alternatives to save us from evictions and foreclosures as the reform of the mortgage law and decent work to continue living with dignity.

And that is enforced by the government in Article 47 of the Spanish Constitution, Article 25 of the Declaration of Human Rights refers to the family, health, welfare, and especially to food, clothing, housing, medical care and necessary social services, and to be protected in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
