They publish a literary magazine with the participation of experts in the work of Castillo-Puche (17/12/2010)

Murcia University hosted the public presentation of "Hécula" literary magazine, in the words of its director, Professor of the institution José Belmonte Serrano, created with the intention of becoming the "organ of expression and communication of the most accomplished specialists in the work of writer Jose Luis Castillo-Puche.

The magazine, which is published by the author yeclano Foundation, includes in its first issue every six months, a comprehensive bibliographic index with a hundred works, including monographs, chapters in books and magazines, which have been written about the figure and Castillo-Puche work.

Among the contents of the publication also contains excerpts from his writings and studies on his literary career, and includes work on Spanish and Latin American literature of the twentieth century.

Not surprisingly, Belmonte said the publication covers an important gap "to be virtually the only literary magazine that there is dedicated to Spanish-language literature of the past 75 years."

The director said of this first issue an article by a professor at the University of Texas Edward Douglas on the friendship that existed between Ernest Hemingway and Castillo-Puche, perhaps the best friend who was the American writer in the Hispanic world.

In fact, said José Belmonte in the presentation, thanks to his friendship with Hemingway, the writer is best known Murcia Camilo Jose Cela in the United States.

The event, held at the headquarters of the Chancellor, attended by the son and the writer's widow, Julia Figueira de Castillo-Puche, a member of the governing board of the magazine and author of one of the articles in the publication.

Julia Figueira, who said his role in it has been to interpret the taste of her husband, was thrilled when she thought her husband would have loved this magazine "simple, elegant and rich in content."

This aspect was also highlighted by the director, who defined it as a journal of classic, which takes its name ("Hécula") of the first novel by Castillo-Puche, "With the death on his shoulder", and includes vignettes Ramón Gómez de la Serna.

The rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, spoke to the widow of Castillo-Puche and soul of the project, citing as example the study he wrote for the magazine about Franco's censorship in the work of her husband.

The president also expressed support for the institution representing the Foundation initiative that promotes Castillo-Puche, to fall within one of the fundamental objectives of the University as is the approach to society.

Also, the mayor of Yecla, Juan Miguel Benedito, also present at the coming-out of the magazine, explained that the Foundation's objectives are to disseminate and perpetuate the work of Castillo-Puche and announced that late January will be publicly available literature background of the writer in his hometown.
