María Dolores Sánchez has chaired the House Municipal School Board

The City School Board held its plenary session, chaired by the Councillor for Education and Youth, María Dolores Sánchez.

The meeting recalled that 44,090 elementary and primary schools in the municipality, of 156 schools, participating in about 2,000 activities proposed in the program "Know your city."

This program features activities and environmental nature, expression and communication, science, history and art, consumer and driver education and road safety.

Also, 14,371 secondary and high school students also perform activities of this program during the academic year 2010/2011.

With these activities and workshops, held in and outside the classroom in term time it is intended that all students complete our municipality known programs in the curricula, promoting the formation of values and practices of citizenship.

In addition, the Department of Education and Youth has authorized the use of 56 schools open at school for use by different groups.

Over 50% of the use is for school-building activities, entertainment, and to prevent social exclusion of young people, promoted by Social Services.

The other 50% is being used by sports associations, NGOs (Caritas, Roma Secretariat, FADE ... ..) AMPAS school (Christmas) and adult education classes.

This initiative contributes to greater integration of the cultural centers of the municipalities and enhances the educational function of the same, projecting and involving all citizens.

Since the 2006/2007 petition requests centers outside school hours, will progressively increases (approximately 30% each school year).

María Dolores Sánchez presented the planned education activities for children at Christmas.

These workshops, film and theater, which involved about 1,750 children.

In particular, activities take place from 27 to 30 December and include:

-Talleres christmas in CEMACAM (Torreguil).

For children 10 to 12 years.

Service will be held for 'Construction toys from recyclable materials', on 27 December, 'Study of landscape', December 28, and 'traditional uses of plants', 29 December.

There are two representations 'The Prince', on December 27 at 12 pm in the Theatre Bernal of El Palmar, and 'Meow, woof, Kiriki', on December 29 at 12 pm in the Municipal Auditorium Cabezo de Torres.

For children 6-12 years may attend the exhibition of 'The Princess and the Frog', on December 28 at 12 pm in the Rex Cinema, and 'Up', on December 30 at 12 pm in the Rex cinema.

Finally, the House has agreed to designate the 27, 28 and April 29, 2011 as non-teaching as they coincide with local celebrations of Spring.
