The Mayor proposes to appoint House Son of the City of Murcia the historian Juan Torres Fontes (14/12/2010)

Miguel Ángel Cámara highlights the academic achievements of the teacher, making it one of the most prestigious Spanish investigators.

Torres Fontes is the official chronicler of the city since 1958 and was director of the Museum and the Academy Salzillo Alfonso X, among other charges.

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara Botía, raised to Full Council in December the proposal of appointment of Son of the City for the historian Juan Torres Fontes Murcia.

Miguel Angel House has stressed that "linking teacher Murcia Torres Fontes has been full and fruitful, since its inception in 1943 at the University of Murcia as a Professor at the Faculty of Arts."

Mayor House has stressed the scientific value of the author and documentary, developed in hundreds of publications on the region and the city, revealing quite a few historical mysteries and creating a school of researchers that culminated this year with the creation of the Department of Local Studies Juan Torres Fontes.

Miguel Angel Chamber also recalled that, as Archivist of the City of Murcia, a position obtained by Juan Torres Fontes in 1953, highlighted the excellent work of cataloging the documentary, the momentum and expansion of the archive and creating the most comprehensive library Murcia issues that remains.
