The PSOE candidate for Mayor of Murcia, Pedro López, held this morning a meeting with President of the Union of Worker Cooperatives in the Region of Murcia, Juan Antonio Pedroza to be formally presented to the board of UCOMUR.
Lopez highlighted the important role of cooperatives as generator of employment and economic development throughout the county, where are some 800 cooperatives, which represents about 65% of the region and 10,000 jobs.
Furthermore, it indicated that the cooperative and social economy are business models that can bring a lot to overcome the serious economic crisis.
During the meeting, Pedro Lopez and Juan Antonio Pedroza have agreed on the need to strengthen the fabric of Murcia adapting to the new economic situation, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the municipality.
So Lopez recalled that he must work from local authorities in setting the strategic lines of cooperation with business organizations, cooperatives and social economy.
Finally, the Socialist candidate also praised the significant efforts being made every day teaching unions, especially in the field of education from 0 to 3 years and has stressed the need to develop policies that ensure their functioning and viability as which are an essential element for reconciling work and family life.
