The Mayor signed cooperation agreements with the 72 women's centers to ensure its operation (13/12/2010)

The direct beneficiaries are the 14,000 members who participate in associations and attend nearly a hundred courses and 42 workshops.

The City Council allocated € 150,000 annually in grants and aid.

There are currently four centers under construction in Cabezo de Torres, Rincon de Seca, San Antolin and The Azacaya.

The 72 existing women's centers in neighborhoods and districts have secured their future in the next four years thanks to the collaboration agreements signed today by the Mayor and delivered personally to the presidents of the associations.

These agreements are essential for the 14,000 members who currently form part of these centers to participate in scheduled activities and programs in order to promote the welfare of women in the municipality and promote gender equality.

This activity would not be possible if it had continued support from City Hall, through the Department of Social Welfare, Gender Equality Policies and Citizenship.

Institutional support allows them to enjoy a premises provided by the Administration, which is also responsible to meet the costs of water, electricity and other supplies, and provide furniture.

The centers also offer technical assistance for activities and advice for the operation of the association.

The members have each year City Council grants for the development of its annual program of activities, allowing them to attend hundreds of courses totaling more than 2,000 hours of training, apart from the 42 workshops are held each physiotherapy year.

This financial allocation is provided directly by the Department of Social Welfare at 15 centers in the neighborhoods, while the remaining 57 funds obtained through the respective municipal councils.

In total, the City subject to its budget of 150,000 euros to cover the costs of the activities of women's centers.

Apart from these funds spent on grants and subsidies, must be added the investments in new buildings or extensions.

At the moment are in the process of building women's centers in Cabezo de Torres, Rincon de Seca, La Azacaya-which is a new association, and San Antolin.
