The City has several programs aimed at health education, which include the "4 / 40", "Less is more" or "Choose how you want to be" along with the "path of the 10,000 steps" created in the city two years ago

The conviction that in the healthy lifestyle not only to take into account food, but also the habits and, above all, exercise is the foundation upon which rests the cooperation agreement signed this morning by the Alcalde, Miguel Angel House, with the Minister of Health and president of the board of the Foundation for Health Research and Training in the Region of Murcia (FFIS), María Ángeles Palacios.

The agreement addresses the objective of coordinated action between the two governments to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle.

Thus, the desired goal is better control of risk factors for diseases most prevalent, which in many cases have to do are overweight or obese.

In short, it is that doctors in primary care network also prescribed "recipe therapeutic" exercise.

Pursued and prevent excess weight and related diseases through nutrition education and encouraging physical activity, involving both patients in their health care.

Physical activity is essential for the maintenance and improvement of health and contributes to the prevention of many diseases, with numerous benefits to physical health, mental and social integration of people when practiced regularly.

Therefore, municipal health services have long gone into the design of programs aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles among Murcia.

Of these, the most significant are:

Your health care 4 / 40 ": Designed to address high rates of obesity that exist in the municipality, where 34% of children under 14 years and 50% of adults are overweight and obese.

Program that seeks to promote the practice of moderate physical activity on a regular basis in the population of the municipality.

Program 4 / 40 proposes the establishment of groups of adults who are called to walk briskly, four days a week for forty minutes each, on routes designed in close to your home environment.

At the moment there are groups formed in Bacons Bridge, the Malecon, Santiago and Zaraíche and Vistabella.

- "Healthy Eating and Physical Activity": A comprehensive program covering the points of interest for proper nutrition, food safety and physical activity of children in the municipality of Murcia.

- "Less is more.

For your health, fewer calories, more life

- "Decide how you want to be.

Watch your diet and your physical condition "

Also from the Department of Environment and Urban Quality has launched initiatives to promote awareness of healthy lifestyles.

These include the creation of the path of the 10,000 steps launched two years ago, with which it is intended that that distance from Murcia along a marked path that runs through highlights of the town.

Murcia was the first Spanish city that prompted this initiative, which have subsequently wanted to join other capitals.
