The Department of Psychology at the University of Murcia has participated, along with the University of Valencia, UNED, in carrying out the first scientific study on prosodic gestural communication and the baby, who has served as the basis for the publication of a guide expression of it.
The guide, led by the Institute for Baby "Nuk" has been presented in the monastery of La Cartuja in Seville, and it deepens the understanding of emotional expression and pain in children 3 to 18 months.
On the occasion of the presentation, Professor, University of Murcia Francisco Martínez Sánchez gave a lecture on the usefulness of infant crying as a communication system that ensures the attention of their parents.
In his presentation Francisco Martinez also addressed the adaptive value of weeping for our species and showed the usefulness of this as a tool to discriminate the existence of pathologies in the neonate.
