The Campus Project Mare Nostrum, elected Campus of Excellence (21/10/2010)

Draft Mare Nostrum Campus of the University of Murcia and Cartagena Polytechnic has achieved the status of Campus of Excellence, call the Spanish Government which seeks to strengthen the universities to contribute to a new production model based on knowledge.

The proposed Murcia institutions has been one of those selected by an international commission of experts had to decide between 22 projects from 39 universities who claimed the title of International Excellence Campus.

The Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Autonomous Communities, will allocate 75 million euros, of which the universities of Murcia will receive 5.3 million for this project, the regional survey found, will enhance the socio-economic development of countries Mediterranean area.

Mare Nostrum campus will specialize in the pockets of excellence in agri-food based bio-economy, quality of life and health technology and the Mediterranean Sea and naval and marine technologies.

Thursday, December 21, the presidents of both institutions offer a press conference to report on the election, in Cartagena, the former headquarters of Seamen, to 17.30.
