A new palm turns to chair the Plaza de las Flores (07/09/2010)

Nursery comes from the Green Municipal Sangonera

La Plaza de las Flores is again dominated by a palm tree.

Municipal technicians and Gardens Park Service have undertaken this morning to the planting of a Phoenix dactylifera, one of the species to fewer red palm weevil affects you with the Washingtonia filifera.

The example chosen is from the municipal nursery in Sangonera la Verde.

It has a height of about five meters, which amounts to 6.20 meters by including the root ball, and a diameter of 70 centimeters.

This palm has has an age of about fifteen years.

Remember that a few days ago, the Department of Environment and Urban Quality was forced to remove the existing palm tree in the Plaza de las Flores to be infected by the red palm weevil and be impossible to recover.
