Speakers pharmacology teachers, psychiatrists and lawyers
The cannabis, cocaine, amphetamines, alcohol, snuff, and the dangers of consumption, will star in a course at the University of the Sea International, entitled "Drug Addiction", will address the substance of abuse under views as diverse as the pharmacological, psychiatric or legal.
Different experts describe both types of existing drugs and the mechanisms that are triggered in the brain after prolonged use, and changes that occur in the short and long term.
It will also address the latest treatments to deal with these addictions.
In the course, to be held in the town of Blanca between 13 and 17 September, pharmacology professors participate in various Spanish universities, as well as psychiatrists and lawyers.
Those responsible for the course aim to provide pupils with a broad theoretical training on this subject from a multidisciplinary perspective, to provide a thorough understanding of the phenomena associated with the consumption of and dependence on drugs to understand the effects particular addiction and withdrawal, as well as organizational and functional structures involved in these processes.
The course is led by Maria Luisa Laorden Carrasco and Maria Victoria Milanés Maquilon, Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Murcia.
The registration period is open until September 12, and students who request it shall be entitled to three free credits.
