The exhibition 'Pasado que no pasa' makes the viewer aware of the reality of the Peruvian Ashaninka people (22/04/2018)

Last Wednesday the Municipal Center El Carmen hosted the opening of the exhibition "The past that does not pass."

An exhibition that springs from the awareness project for the promotion of the human rights of the indigenous peoples of Peru, promoted by the NGO Fundación Humanismo y Democracia, and with which the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation collaborates, directs Conchita Ruiz.

"The project aims to show the population of Murcia, and especially the adolescents of various institutes, the reality of the Ashaninka people, as an example of the difficulties faced by indigenous groups in Latin American countries to exercise their rights, which hinders its sustainable human development ", explained the councilor.

To do this, groups of students between 12 and 18 years old will make guided visits and can be visited by the general public that will have a brochure with a brief summary about the history of this indigenous people, their struggle for the defense of their rights and a review about the exhibition.

This will help all those who visit the show to understand what these photographs want to show us, beyond their undoubted artistic quality, since the goal is to generate a culture of solidarity committed to sustainable development in which nobody stay behind.

The objectives of the show are the contribution to generate consciences committed to development with equity and the promotion of human rights, as well as to raise awareness among young people, and society in Murcia, of the need to work for the promotion of sustainable development , that respects and guarantees the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous peoples.

The visiting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the morning and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the afternoon.
