The Socialist Group will take a motion to the April plenary session requesting that the 24 kilometers of the Segura river on its way through the municipality be conditioned by undertaking this task cleaning garbage and removing cane that grows in the channel and providing it with security so that the use and enjoyment of the thousands of people who use it is appropriate
The Socialist councilor Enrique Ayuso will defend at the next Plenary Session of the Murcia City Council, to hold a motion in late April for the Segura River to pass through the municipality, between La Contraparada and Alquerías, to meet the ideal conditions for its use.
The mayor and the vice president of the municipal board of Tocinos Bridge, Lola Jara, have visited the section of the river that runs from the Fica and to that district and have observed the poor state in which it is, with a large number of canes that they prevent the water from being seen and can cause floods, garbage that accumulates in its surroundings, bushes that grow in the area that separates the bike path and the walking path that invade both spaces, as well as the absence of litter bins and lighting , something, the latter, which causes insecurity for neighbors and thousands of users who frequent this area to walk, run or ride a bicycle.
In fact, several attacks on young people have already been recorded at sunset.
Faced with these clear deficiencies, the PSOE reminds the local government, commanded by the mayor José Ballesta, that the Murcia River project that the mayor will champion as an emblematic plan to promote activity and healthy life around the Segura should not focus exclusively on the urban section with measures such as illuminating the river with the colors of the different brotherhoods during these Holy Week celebrations.
"It is a global project in the municipality and as such must be developed, not only with effective measures, but also with effective actions that go beyond what happens in the city," said Ayuso, who has demanded that the City Council take Letters in the matter and act urgently in the improvement and the conditioning of the Segura river mass as a whole.
"It seems that Ballesta is very concerned about the state of the Segura River, but not the entire river, but the one who sees from his window," said the PSOE councilor, who denounces "the abandonment of the PP" in that regard.
