Works by the most universal artists from Murcia will be recreated with flowers in the gardens during the Spring Festival (27/03/2018)

Works by Ramón Gaya, Mariano Ballester, Molina Sánchez, Párraga, Sánchez Picazo and Campillo will come to life in the form of canvases and floral sculptures that will pay homage to Murcian culture and turn the city into an open-air museum.

More than 120 public events, 70 locations, 200,000 flower plants, 43 barracks and 50,000 programs to celebrate 'Spring begins in Murcia'.

The Homage to Meat Pie this year will surprise: Murcia will be able to taste the largest in the world.

The Circular will be the 'Alma de la Huerta' with a large Ferris wheel 12 meters high that will 'water' the 2,000 kilos of vegetables and plants.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, reported today that "floral works of art will dress the gardens and squares of the city, a tribute to the most universal Murcian artists, whose paintings will come alive in the form of canvases and floral sculptures full of aroma and color , turning our city into an open-air museum during the Spring Festival. "

"It is a unique initiative in our country and a commitment to the Murcian culture with which the arrival of spring can be lived in every corner of the city;

an exceptional reception for the hundreds of thousands of visitors and tourists who will accompany us to enjoy our festivities of International Tourist Interest: the Bando de la Huerta (Tuesday 3) and the Burial of the Sardine (Saturday 7) ", underlined José Ballesta .

The works, which are being recreated through an artisanal technique (the terrain is smoothed and compacted, the images are drawn directly on the flowerbeds and filled with thousands of flowers of different varieties and colors), will embellish neuralgic points of the city:

· La Glorieta will host the tribute to the painter Mariano Ballester 'Huertanos', in which his characteristic couple of huertanos will be represented.

· In La Glorieta you can also contemplate the tribute to Ramón Gaya, with the recreation of the famous cup of the Murcian master, with a couple of carnations inside.

· The entrance of the Malecón will host the floral tribute to the painter José Antonio Molina Sánchez, with the detail of 'Siempre piensa'.

· In the San Francisco Plane, one of the faces has been represented with mastery by the painter José María Párraga.

· In the Plaza Camachos you can visit the homage to Pedro Sánchez Picazo, with its pink features 'painted' on the beds.

· In addition, master sculptor Antonio Campillo will also be present at Avenida Libertad, as one of his most famous sculptures will be recreated with flowers, his 'Tribute to the Murcian woman'.

Under the slogan 'Spring begins in Murcia', the City Council will also decorate 16 gardens and emblematic squares of the different neighborhoods of the city (list * is attached) with more than 200,000 flowering plants and will recover, as in previous years, the tradition of the floral arches in Santo Domingo, Santa Isabel, San Juan and Aurora.

Some 250,000 cut flowers - mostly carnations from Canara (Cehegín) - will decorate the arches and balconies of the Town Hall and the Episcopal Palace.

The Circular will become the "huertano epicenter of the city, through the monument 'Alma de la Huerta', chaired by the great Ferris wheel 12 meters high and 10 in diameter that will 'water' the 2,000 kilos of vegetables, the large urban garden, the characteristic trees of the Huerta and flowers that will give life to this space, "the mayor recalled.
