Next Monday, April 2, the XXXI edition of the Tunas Costa Cálida International Competition will begin.

This year 12 national and foreign tunas will perform in the San Basilio Pergola in this event that is part of the Spring Festival.

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, explained that "this event is already an unmissable event of our Spring Festival programming since, in addition to the tunas taking their music to different points of the city, the members of the foreign tunas will become ambassadors of Murcia in their land ".

The kick-off will be given with the opening gala on day 2 at 10 pm at the Romea Theater, which will be presented by Juan Manuel Piñero.

In this ceremony the group Los Parrandboleros will be invested as 'Grand Master' and will be presented to Ana Guerra, finalist of Operación Triunfo 2017, as 'Madrina' of this edition of the contest.

In addition, the tuna of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Murcia will perform at this gala.

Performances at the San Basilio Pergola will begin on Wednesday, April 4 at 9:30 p.m. with the tunas of the New Horizon Disability Association, the Faculty of Law, Economic and Business Sciences and Teaching of Murcia, together with the tunas of the University of the Andes of Bogota (Colombia) and the tuna university of San Marcos de Lima (Peru).

The Pergola of San Basilio will also host on Thursday the 5th of the Tuna District of Las Palmas and Granada, of Sciences of Valencia, of Law of Santiago de Compostela and the University Tunas of Alcalá de Henares and Lisbon.

These, along with the Colombian and Peruvian tunas, are those that will participate in the contest that is included in this contest.

Also this day the tunas will participate in the parade of flowers from 5 pm.

On Friday, April 6, the City of Murcia will receive at 5 pm in April the participants participating in the Moneo Building and, later, there will be a round of participants in the Glorieta de España.

Finally, at 9.30 pm, the Closing Ceremony of the XXI edition of the Tunas Costa Cálida Contest will take place at the Pergola of San Basilio, where the prizes will be awarded and the winner tuna will perform. of Medicine of Murcia and the Canary group Mencey.
