The Spring Festival will sow the city of vegetables huertanas (23/03/2018)

The circular will host "a large canvas of nature huertana" composed of about 2,000 kilos of vegetables, an urban garden, trees characteristic of the garden, flowers and herbs.

COAG and FECOAM donate the vegetables with the aim of promoting the products of the Huerta de Europa between Murcia and the thousands of tourists who visit the city during the holidays.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, today presented the urban gardens composed of Murcian fruits and vegetables that will take the Garden to the Spring Gardens during the holidays.

The event was attended by the president of COAG (Coordinator of Organizations of Farmers and Cattle Ranchers), Miguel Padilla, and the president of FECOAM (Federation of Agrarian Organizations of Murcia), Santiago Martínez, entities that collaborate in this initiative and that donate the Vegetables, with the aim of promoting the products of the Huerta de Europa between Murcia and the thousands of tourists who visit the city during the holidays.

"In the Circular, the epicenter of activity during the next holidays, a large canvas of nature will be created huertana composed of about 2,000 kilos of cut vegetables (tomatoes, oranges, lemons, cauliflower, green pepper, red and yellow, artichokes, grapefruit, celery and zucchini), "said José Ballesta, who added that" in addition, there will be present the most representative varieties of the Murcian garden (lemon, orange, palm trees ...), various varieties of flowers and aromatic herbs. "

In addition to the cut vegetables, the Plaza Circular will host, a year, a large urban garden with 900 plants of different varieties of lettuce, romanescu and broccoli purple, green and yellow;

while Calle Basabé will host another colorful urban garden with cabbages, lettuce and tomato plants that will be spread over a surface area of ​​53m2.

The city will also be filled with the aroma of rosemary, thyme, mint, lavender and lavender, with the 3,000 aromatic plants that will be distributed in the different children's workshops that will take place during the holidays.

A tribute to the roots huertanas

Twenty squares and spaces of the city will be adorned with creations and floral tapestries that will pay homage to the roots of Murcia.

"This year, the Spring Gardens have been conceived as authentic natural works of art that will surprise Murcia, and whose details will be revealed in the coming days," said José Ballesta.
