The PSOE denounces the "terrible conditions" of many schools and demands an investment plan of between 10 and 12 million euros (20/03/2018)

The Municipal Socialist Group has denounced today at a press conference the "terrible conditions" in which many public schools of the municipality, so it has claimed an investment plan worth between 10 and 12 million euros "in order to adapt them to the 21st century ", according to the socialist spokesperson, Susana Hernández.

In this regard, he stated that "in the same way that, thanks to the pressure and commitment of the PSOE, we have achieved an Extraordinary Plan for Districts, another is needed to condition our schools, because they have space problems, do not have a library or a dining room, asbestos elements, cracks in walls, columns and sports courts, lack of electrical power to turn on the air conditioning or digital boards, leaks, many accessibility problems, assembly halls converted into classrooms ... "

Hernandez recalled that "if there are shadows in some schools and several sports tracks are going to be covered now, it is thanks to the efforts of our municipal boards and our insistent denunciation, but we must remember that the centers are the property of the City Council, which can not and should not let the public school degrade to favor the concerted as it has been doing for decades ".

The socialist spokeswoman explained that "we must take into account that our students spend a great part of their lives in these centers and, if anyone considers that their home needs a reform after 40 years, then the schools do the same. the most bleeding is that we have some new ones like El Raal, which, in addition to stairs to access the classrooms, has significant leaks with moldy walls. "

Meanwhile, "the PP makes adjustments, but we have already warned that painting and changing cisterns is not conditioning our centers," said Hernandez, who also stated that "it is a matter of priorities, if we had government responsibilities we would adapt our schools so that the students were proud but for the popular ones the megalomaniacal projects like the Murcia River are priority ".

During the press conference, the socialist spokesperson has given an overview of almost twenty schools in the municipality as an example, highlighting the main deficiencies: the Pedro Pérez Abadía school in Espinardo has an obsolete electrical system and lack of space;

Our Lady of the Incarnation, of La Raya, lack of electrical power;

Painter Pedro Flores, from Tocinos Bridge, still has asbestos, as does San Ginés, and does not have an emergency exit, in addition to lack of space such as Infanta Cristina and Ramón Gaya, also from Puente Tocinos.

The CEIP of Santiago El Mayor needs power;

that of El Campillo, also presents asbestos and lack of space, such as González Moreno, of Aljucer or Nuestra Señora de Cortes, of Nonduermas, while, that of San José de la Vega, the track and the sports furniture have deteriorated.

In this regard, Hernandez recalled that "the need to expand can be solved by covering a porch, in some cases, and Aljucer refurbishing the old house of the concierge, who is in a deplorable situation."

He also cited the centers of Algezares and Los Dolores, where the windows do not close because they are so old and even when water rains.

In the same way, has criticized that there are schools without dining, "something so necessary to reconcile work and family life", so he has insisted on preparing schools to "the society of our time."
