The mayor Pilar Muñoz ask that the Ministry of Education be urged to develop and implement a similar plan in the public IES of the municipality

Murcia, Friday, March 16, 2018. The Councilor for Citizens Pilar Muñoz will defend a motion in the plenary session next Thursday (March 22), asking the local government for the preparation, execution and budget allocation of a Shock Plan to fix the deficiencies of public schools with more than ten years old, within their maintenance and conservation competencies.

Generalized deterioration

Muñoz has put as an example of this latent deterioration of the public schools to the school Virgen del Rosario, of La Cueva de Monteagudo that has made headlines this week after the detachment of part of the bricks from the facade due to the wind.

"This school happens to many others, unfortunately it is not an isolated event," denounced the mayor, who, in this regard, has warned that "this is the usual pattern: centers built many years ago that, Despite the wear and tear of time, they have received few reforms to stop their deterioration and correct the deficiencies - asbestos in the roofs, cracks, areas without shade, windows that do not close hermetically - as happens in other schools;

as in the CEIP Virgen de la Fuensanta de La Alberca that we have visited today (windows that do not close properly and that are very dangerous, as well as a good number of deficiencies in the sanitation, electrical installation and security, an emergency exit is missing) ".

"Given the seriousness of the state in which the public centers are located, it is time to establish priorities and address this situation in a clear way to solve it," said Muñoz, who will urge the local government and the Education Council to "negotiate and subscribe a collaboration agreement to implement this necessary Crash Plan ".

Likewise, the Councilor for Citizens will request in the Plenary Session that "the City Council urge Education to elaborate and execute a similar plan in the public institutes of the municipality, which also need repairs".
