The UCAM awards the prizes of the Scientific Olympics 2018 (16/03/2018)

This year have increased both the number of Olympiads, 12 areas, and participants, about 400 students.

The Catholic University will finance with 100%, 50% or 25%, the first year of study of the best classifieds in the Scientific Olympics of its headquarters in Murcia and Cartagena

The Catholic University of Murcia has delivered this morning the awards of the Scientific Olympics 2018 in which four hundred students of 1st and 2nd year of high school and of the Higher Level Training Cycles have participated.

This year, the University has increased the number of degrees organized in the Health and Polytechnic areas, with theoretical-practical tests developed at the UCAM headquarters in Murcia and Cartagena.

The Catholic University, together with the Seneca Foundation, cofinancier of the event, has celebrated the award ceremony in which six scholarships have been awarded for 100% of the enrollment of the first year, nine of the 50% and ten of the 25% bonus

In addition, the winners were presented with six tablets, nine sports cameras and ten sportswear kits.

The objective of the Scientific Olympics is to reward the excellence of the students of the Baccalaureate and the second cycle of Higher Grade Vocational Training.

Estrella Núñez, Vice Chancellor of Research of the UCAM, highlighted the importance of this event, because "it fosters the scientific vocation of students and allows them to imagine a professional future linked to the world of research".

This year, students belong to the following centers: IES Juan Carlos I (9 winners), Maristas La Merced-Fuensanta School (5 winners), Marist School "La Sagrada Familia" - Cartagena (3 winners), IES Ricardo Ortega (3 winners) awarded), San Jorge School (2 awarded), El Limonar International School (1 awarded) and the Higher Institute of San Antonio FP (1 awarded).

In the closing ceremony, in addition to Estrella Núñez, Juan Monzó Cabrera, General Director of Universities and Research of the CARM, participated;

Antonio González Valverde, director of the Séneca Foundation;

Ángel Pablo Cano Gómez, director of the OPRI and coordinator of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC + i) of the UCAM, and Juan Alfonso García Roca, academic director of the Cartagena Campus of the Catholic University.
