Local Police carry out more than 2,700 humanitarian interventions in 2017 (16/03/2018)

The City Council recognizes the work of local police officers and their service to the city on the day of St. Patrick with the delivery of decorations in the Plaza Belluga.

José Ballesta: "Today Murcia shows its affection to those who are daily giving the best of yourselves".

The festivity commemorates the victory of the battle of the Alporchones, on March 17, 1452, by which the Council of Murcia agreed its appointment as patron of the city and the kingdom.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the councilor of Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection, Lola Sanchez, and public authorities, today made delivery of the distinctions to the Local Police, on the occasion of St. Patrick, Patron of the Body, a holiday that commemorates the victory of the battle of the Alporchones, on March 17, 1452, by which the Council of Murcia agreed its appointment as patron of the city and the kingdom.

The mayor stressed that "during 2017 the local police received 158,570 calls to consult information, request assistance or make any type of demand and performed around 100,000 actions, of which, 2,742 were humanitarian and assistance to help disoriented people, transfer to hospitals or assist citizens in an accident. "

José Ballesta encouraged the agents to continue carrying out "a work that has made you worthy of the admiration of Murcia, that we are proud of our Local Police, composed of highly qualified women and men and in permanent disposition to go to the help of who I need it "and stressed that" today Murcia shows its affection to those who are daily giving the best of yourselves ".

In this sense, he added that "today security is a dynamic challenge that is built from professionalism and the unwavering vocation of service, but also from science and technology, from cooperation and dialogue with the State Security Forces and Bodies , National Police and Civil Guard, to whom I also want to thank publicly their invaluable work and their commitment to Murcia. "

Decorations and Homage to the Fallen

After reviewing the training, the mayor presided over the award ceremony.

The public representatives awarded the Police Merit Cross with White Distinction to 29 agents and 7 people outside the Corps, the Police Merit Cross with Red Distinction to 3 municipal policemen.

The authorities decorated 30 active Local Police officers with a Public Personal Compliment and distinguished 12 Local Police Officers in the last year with the Local Police Insignia.

After the delivery of the badges was carried out the act of Tribute to the Fallen in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga.
