The Vistabella neighborhood association demands a solution to the problem of pigeons (15/03/2018)

For years, pigeons have been a problem in the Vistabella neighborhood.

In certain streets, a large number of pigeons are concentrated, which leads to a series of discomforts in the neighborhood, such as corrosion of the paint on the bodies of the cars, dirt on the floor and bad odors.

It is enough to walk through the streets and squares of the neighborhood to check the status of street furniture, cars or sidewalks, covered by pigeon droppings.

In addition, the proliferation of pigeons can have harmful consequences for health, such as the transmission of diseases through infectious agents such as viruses, fungi and bacteria, through excrement, fecal dust or feathers, which cause allergies and respiratory ailments (chlamydiosis , salmonellosis, histoplasmosis, allergic alveolitis and even meningitis).

Since the Neighborhood Association of Vistabella takes several years denouncing the situation, but their claims fall on deaf ears.

Despite the promises of both the Eastern District Board and the City Council, through the Department of Zoonoses, this problem remains in force, and continues to demand some solution for sanitary control of this urban species.

Possible solutions suggested by the Vistabella Neighborhood Association go through the installation of antimalarial networks in the nesting sites, economic and effective system for their capture and subsequent transfer to rural areas.

From the A. VV.

It is hoped that this problem will be solved in a short time, because it is a public health issue that affects the well-being of people.
