Students from 46 schools will receive talks and informative workshops on road safety and the use of bicycles (13/03/2018)

The Bicycle Municipal Office, dependent of the Department of Urbanism, Environment, Water and Garden, organizes 62 activities, workshops and lectures, to encourage the use of bicycle and road safety among primary, secondary and high school students during the months March, April and May.

In total 46 workshops will be held for sixth grade students in 34 schools, and 16 talks for young people in high school and high school in 12 schools.

These workshops, focused on elementary students, will have an hour duration, will be carried out by groups of between 30 and 35 students and have as objective, on the one hand, to make the participants aware of the responsible use of the bicycle and learn to have account all the security elements necessary to be able to circulate.

And on the other hand, improve balance, directionality, the layout of the curves, the ability to lower and climb the bicycle, one-handed driving or emergency braking skills, among others.

In addition, an extraordinary workshop of 150 students of the Escultor González Moreno de Aljucer School will be held to achieve these objectives and encourage the use of bicycles in the municipality.

The didactic talks for ESO and Bachillerato youngsters, which will last for an hour and a half, have the collaboration of local police of the Traffic Children's Park of Murcia and with technicians from the General Directorate of Traffic on road safety.

These conferences will involve members of the Municipal Bicycle Office, local technicians and police, who will give a training talk on bicycle traffic rules.

Also, Juan Francisco Cerezo, professor specializing in sports physical activities in the natural environment, will offer an audiovisual talk in which he will take a tour of the geography of our country.
