The first professor at the University of Murcia, Francisca Moya of the Bath, receives the prize 'Murcia in Equality' and highlights the influence that "modern, bright and hardworking women" have exercised in their academic and vital career.

The Plenary Hall hosts a collective tribute to the Murcian woman who has been joined by people of all ages: students, professors, representatives of the Centers for Women, members of the Municipal Boards, the Municipal Council of Equality and the Municipal Corporation .

The City of Murcia distinguished today the work of women and institutions that are a reference for their example of improvement and work in favor of equality, on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The Plenary Hall hosted this collective tribute to the Murcian woman whose spearhead has been the teacher Francisca Moya del Baño, first professor at the University of Murcia, who received from the hands of the mayor, José Ballesta, the award 'Murcia in Equality' .

The event was attended by people of all ages, representatives of the Centers for Women, members of the Municipal Boards, the Municipal Council of Equality, the Municipal Corporation and responsible in the City Council for equality policies, the councilor of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz.

Francisca Moya del Baño, first professor at the University of Murcia (Linguistics and Latin Literature) in 1974, emphasized that women have been her main references: from her mother, from whom she learned two values ​​that have always accompanied her "dignity" and "Equality", even its teachers, "modern, bright and hard-working" women, from whom she learned "self-demand, love of work, discipline and the pride of being a woman".

Moya from the bathroom has been 'the First' on many occasions.

The mayor stressed that Moya del Baño "is part of the golden history of the University of Murcia, a brilliant mind that has been a pioneer both in its academic work and in its vision of the future on the institution itself, being the academic vanguard and becoming a forerunner that has opened the way to the new generations of Murcian women, who today represent 60% of the students, being Murcia the third Spanish region with the most university students ".

The performance of the Gospel Vocal Cord Group took place and the students of the 4th year of contemporary dance at the School of Dramatic Arts performed the performance 'Palabras enclosed' against violence against women, "the most frequent covert crime in the world according to the United Nations, a drama that is not alien or distant, and that today we must especially keep in mind to continue fighting it with all the strength that social consensus gives ", highlighted José Ballesta.

Equality in sports, education and prevention of violence

The Plenary Hall also hosted the award of the 'Equality in Sport' award to the public school Ciudad de Murcia and its teaching team, an award with which the City of Murcia recognizes the success of the School Sports Program for the promotion of education in equality, the breaking of sexist stereotypes in sports practice and the promotion of the value of competition among female students.

Likewise, the award 'Educating for equality' was presented to the public schools of Our Lady of the Angels of El Esparragal and Barriomar 74. The award 'Building Equality.

Prevention of Gender Violence 'went to the IES Monte Miravete in Torreagüera.
