The Syrian poet Maram al-Masri will offer a bilingual poetry recital on the occasion of International Women's Day (07/03/2018)

On Thursday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m., the Law Room of the Faculty of Law will host a bilingual poetic recital with Maram al-Masri.

The event, which will be presented by the editor Javier Marín Ceballos, will feature the participation of the Syrian poet and Pilar Garrido Clemente, translator and professor at the Department of French, Romance, Italian and Arabic Philology at the University of Murcia.

Maram al-Masri was born in Latakia (Syria) and moved to Paris in 1982, after studying English literature in Damascus.

Today she is considered one of the best-known and most captivating female voices of her generation.

He participates regularly in international poetry festivals, both in France, where he lives, and in the rest of the world.

As Professor Pilar Garrido explains, "words not only make up thought, but they are able to unite when everything else apparently separates, because languages, even if they are different, with different accents, with different political regimes, if they are charged to the maximum of meaning, they unite more than separate, hence, he explains, the priority for hearing poets in their original language and accent.

The event was organized by the Culture Service and the Mare Nostrum Campus, with the collaboration of the Unit for Equality between Women and Men, the Association of Parents of the Liceo André Malraux and the Cajamurcia Foundation.
