The route "infrequent Symbology in the City of Murcia" uncovers the hidden details of civil and religious buildings (03/03/2018)

The Councilor for Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, Rebeca Pérez, attended this morning the route "Infrequent Symbology in the City of Murcia", framed within the "Networks for Free Time" program of the Youth service.

It is a route taught by the historian Pablo Alonso Bermejo for which various story lines have been used that have served to put the symbols analyzed in relation, seeking to explain and convey the reasons for their persistence over time.

"An activity that aims to introduce young people to the observation of symbols that appear in certain buildings, both religious and civil in the city, inquiring into their meaning, history and sometimes reasons for their special location," said Rebecca. Pérez

The itinerary, with a duration of three hours, has departed from the Church of San Miguel, visiting its altarpiece, cover and surroundings of the church.

Next, the group has addressed the cover of the Church of Santo Domingo (opposite the side of the Romea Theater).

The following exhibition has been in the Museum of La Claras, accessing the Alto Choir.

Finally, to conclude with the visit, we have arrived at the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, with the study of the varied symbology of civil and religious buildings.

The plot used by Pablo Alonso has been that of the symbolism of the Axis of the World represented in Murcia, through the centuries, through the symbol of the Dragon.

Although the dispersion of the historical remains that preserve this motive does not allow a complete and exhaustive follow-up in such a limited time, it has been possible to understand with a sufficiently representative overall vision of its importance in this city over the last 500 years. .
