The pruning of trees will also be used to restore the public forests (25/02/2018)

The Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, directed by José Guillén, has offered the General Directorate of the Natural Environment the pruning remains of the trees of the municipal gardens for the restoration of public forests.

In this way it is sought to offer higher carbon content in order to favor plant growth to prevent desertification, thus improving soil conditions.

Last March, the Parks and Gardens Service began using shredders to reuse the remains of the pruned branches as fertilizer.

This is achieved by closing the so-called ecological cycle since the branches of the trees that are cut into the programmed prunings will be crushed with this new machine that will allow waste to be reused to improve and beautify the soil conditions where it is deposited.

Councilman José Guillén has listed some of its many benefits as "the reuse of waste to improve the soil conditions in which they are deposited and reducing the volume of material with which they work."

In addition, by depositing these crushed remnants of branches in some areas, an improvement of the retention of moisture as well as the structure of the plant itself is achieved, thus reducing the consumption of irrigation water.

There is also a reduction in the trips made to authorized landfills, since the volume of the waste decreases when shredding.

For the use of this new machinery, the professionals who will use it have been specifically trained and carry out their work with all the necessary safety measures for their daily activity.

The Department of Modernization responsible for parks and gardens continues to advance in the improvement of the environment with systems that allow a more ecological and naturalized treatment of the more than 3000 green areas parks and gardens that the municipality of Murcia has in addition to the large number of measures in this same sense that the session has addressed in recent months.
