The Vistabella Neighborhood Association denounces the lack of security on the Calatrava footbridge (22/02/2018)

Before the fall this afternoon of a lady on the bridge of Vistabella, who had to be taken to the hospital by the health services with a strong traumatism in the arm, the AVV Vistabella wants to denounce once again the ruinous state in which the carpet of the bridge and the lack of definitive measures by the City of Murcia that end with insecurity when crossing it.

This Association of Neighbors has already made an action six years ago to denounce the danger posed by the glass floor that originally has the walkway.

As a result of this complaint and the complaints of the neighbors and neighbors, the highly sliding glass floor was covered by a carpet.

This carpet, given the continuous movement of pedestrians crossing the bridge, is easily torn and folded, and the slips have been replaced by trips, trips that affect especially elderly people.

Given that the continuous patching solution that is being carried out every few months does not work (the last fix was in October of last year) and the maintenance cost seems useless in view of the results, the AVV Vistabella requires the Murcia City Council put a definitive solution to this matter, assume your responsibilities regarding the safety of your fellow citizens, and put the necessary means, material and / or judicial with the architecture studio of Santiago Calatrava, to end once and for all with a problem that all neighbors in our neighborhood worry.

Also, this Association is willing to dialogue and offer solutions, as the main affected, to a concern that concerns not only the inhabitants of Vistabella the Infante, but all Murcia and Murcia crossing this bridge.
