The Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) and the MAD Lions EC eSports club have signed a strategic alliance in the Spanish university area at the Los Jerónimos Campus.
The agreement opens three ways of collaboration: practices, scholarships and research.
The students of this university will be able to practice in the club in the various professional branches offered by the electronic sports sector.
At the same time, MAD Lions EC players will have the opportunity to combine their studies with their professional careers as gamers, as well as to open up new lines of research in the field of eSports thanks to the exchange of ideas and experiences.
Tao Martinez, secretary of the Chair of eSports of the UCAM, values ​​this agreement as "an important step because we incorporate a very important strategic ally that focuses its activity beyond the competition." They are interested in the training of their players and in the professionalization of eSports ".
On the part of MAD Lions EC, Alejandro Suárez, general manager of the club, highlights that "there are many ways of collaboration and it is very important to work in the field of research because it is a field that is not very well developed. health can be important, since players are sitting all day, and sports management can be a fundamental branch, because in this sense we are very similar to traditional sports in terms of organization, rules, structure and competition in yes".
And all this, without forgetting the great opportunity that is open for the members of the team, who have the opportunity to study at the UCAM with a similar program of tutoring that Olympic athletes have.
Jesús 'Falco' Pérez, League of Legends player, highlights this aspect: "I want to resume my studies to have an academic background when I finish my career as a professional player and for me it is something very positive and we should take advantage of it."
