The City Council promised yesterday to rehabilitate the Paseo del Malecón by approving the motion presented by Ahora Murcia.
The Corporation in full shared the conviction of Now Murcia that one of the hallmarks of the municipality can not continue to offer "an unfortunate image of abandonment", in addition to the legislation requires the Consistory is responsible for the maintenance of this element patrimonial, since it is of municipal ownership.
The councilor Angeles Micol recalls that a report from the Autonomous Community of 2013 related the poor state of many parts of the Paseo del Malecón, while indicating that its repair required small-scale works.
"That is to say," says the mayor, "to put the Malecón in conditions it is not necessary to elaborate a superproject or make a large outlay".
The motion of Now Murcia referred to the poor state of the walls of the walk, "full of cracks, sinking, chipped, dirt and painted", as well as the "huge breaks caused at some points by the railings", and also highlighted "the shameful aspect" that presents the historic door of the Garden of the Cypresses, "that needs an urgent restoration".
Micol asks that now the municipal government of the PP "does not extend months and months the application of this motion" and points out that already in the coming weeks "must begin to take the necessary steps for its implementation, among which are present the corresponding applications and projects in the General Directorate of Cultural Assets of the Autonomous Community ".
The mayor recalls that we are talking "of a good cataloged as 'monument', which is a link between the city and the Huerta, and is frequented daily by large numbers of residents of Murcia, who have the Paseo del Malecón as one of its favorite places to walk and perform leisure activities and that deserve a walk in conditions, besides that it is a legal obligation ".
