Promotion will distribute 1,400 bins for packaging and paper in the schools of the municipality to promote the importance of recycling (07/11/2017)

The Councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, accompanied by Rafael Gomez, Councilor for Education, and Heritage, Antonio Igualada, manager of the service concessionaire, Ferrovial Services and Alberto Fernandez manager of Ecoembes for the Region of Murcia has presented this morning a new initiative that seeks to raise awareness among students in schools in the municipality of the importance of recycling.

Thanks to the collaboration between the City of Murcia, Ferrovial Services and Ecoembes will be distributed to schools requesting 700 yellow bins for plastic containers, cans and bricks and other 700 blue for paper and cardboard, in addition to 30,000 bags of the corresponding color to facilitate its deposit and transport to the public road container.

Under the slogan 'Colegios + de 3rrs' a campaign is launched that wants to promote in the educational centers the correct separation of the waste generated in these centers for their later recycling and recovery.

As Roque Ortiz points out, "we know that there are many centers that already do it and that is why with this action we want to reinforce and facilitate that they continue doing it and that for the few that still do not do it, it serves as a tool to promote recycling in their centers and start in this good environmental practice "

Schools that are interested in participating in the program have to fill out a questionnaire available on the website murciaciudadsostenible.es.

Thanks to this form, the number of bins needed to make a weighted distribution of them will be evaluated.

Once this information is received, the Municipal Waste Collection Service will contact the Center to schedule the start of the service and the visit of the specific trainers to each center where they will inform and train all the agents of the educational community in waste management, advising to start or improve the proper separation and management of waste generated in the center.

The campaign "Schools + 3RRs" will be complementary to the training program carried out by the City for more than 15 years in all schools in the municipality and that allows to train more than 15,000 students a year on street cleaning, selective collection and care of the environment and environment.

Through this action, the aim is to motivate citizens, and in particular children, to improve the separation of domestic packaging both in their homes and outside them.

"At City Hall, we consider this kind of collaborations that instill respect for the environment and demonstrate the importance of collaboration to be fundamental, and we firmly believe in education as a way to transmit environmental values", said Roque Ortiz,

On the other hand, from Ecoembes - the non-profit environmental organization that promotes the circular economy through the recycling of domestic packaging - this type of initiatives is considered fundamental that inculcate respect for the environment and demonstrate the importance of collaboration, betting for education as a way to transmit environmental values.
