The City of Murcia collaborates in the sustainable development of the indigenous peoples of Paraguay (30/09/2017)

The Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, in its commitment to collaborate with the development and growth of populations that are in a situation of greater vulnerability, continues to reinforce its involvement with the projects of associations and organizations that, in different parts of the world , seek to improve the lives of the most needy.

The result of this is the subsidy of around 4,000 euros to the NGO UNESCO Center of Murcia to promote its project "Intercultural education as an instrument for the sustainable development of indigenous peoples in Paraguay", strengthening early childhood.

The project is being carried out at Enxent, Sanapana, Angite, Heritage Community, Department of President Hayes, and the objectives are as follows:

1- Produce and distribute didactic materials for the literacy and training of mothers and fathers of children that initiates preschool and pre-school education (4-5 years).

2- 2,500 mothers and fathers have didactic materials for their literacy and training.

3- Improve the training of indigenous mothers and fathers to facilitate their participation in the educational process of their children who initiate children's education (4 years) and preschool (5 years), favoring the preservation and transmission of their own culture.

4- 2,500 fathers and mothers participate in the activities of the school of mothers / fathers of their community.

Works that will allow 2,500 mothers and fathers to receive educational material for their participation in parents' schools, the implementation of 5 schools for mothers and fathers in 5 indigenous communities or increase the enrollment of children of 4 to 5 years in the communities participating in the project.

The project is being carried out in collaboration between the UNESCO Center of the Region of Murcia and the Paraguayan institutions, Golden Age, Messengers of Peace in the West and the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC) through the Directorate General of Indigenous Education (DGEEI ) from Paraguay.

A project launched in 2006 that has been strengthened thanks to the subsidy of the City of Murcia.

With help granted by the municipality of Murcia of € 3,945 and € 2,000 from the Caja Murcia Foundation, books are published for 50 schools of:

- Support for schoolchildren by first and second semester parents.

- Support to schoolchildren by parents and Reading-writing.

- Infant Education (4 years), for teachers and students: 1st and 2nd Semester)

- Infant Education (5 years), for teachers and students: 1st and 2nd Semester)

Finally, during the month of July and August, several workshops are held, where we have worked with the newly edited books, simultaneously working the training of moms with the teachers.
