The floral arch of the Peligros, ready to welcome tomorrow the arrival of the patron saint to the city (30/08/2017)

For the first time in history, the Virgin of the Dangers will accompany La Morenica from the Old Bridge to the church of Carmen, processionando together the day of the Romería until El Carmen.

The portico, inspired by those installed at the beginning of the last century in the city, is 12 meters high and is composed of more than 6,000 garlands and floral elements

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, supervised today the latest works of installation of the floral arch that will decorate the Puente de los Peligros during the Murcia Fair 2017 and that tomorrow afternoon Will receive the Virgin of the Fuensanta in its arrival to the city from its Sanctuary in the mount.

The mayor advanced new details of one of the most outstanding innovations that this Fair: the historic encounter between La Fuensanta and the Virgin of the Dangers, which will process together for the first time.

"This traditional arch, inspired by those installed at the beginning of last century in the city, will witness this unique event between our Patroness and The Virgin of the Dangers.

It will be the day of the Romería, coinciding with the 275th anniversary of the enthronement of the stature of Nuestra Señora de los Peligros on the bridge and in the year of the 90th anniversary of the coronation of La Morenica, "said José Ballesta.

From the 12 of September of 1742 the image of the Virgin of the Dangers guard the main entrance of the district of the Carmen from its hornacina, under the inscription 'Salus in periculis' (Salvation in the perils).

Next Tuesday, September 12, the image will wait at the top of the bridge to the Patroness of Murcia, both will meet face to face and procession together for the first time to the church of Carmen.

The Brotherhood of Health has ceded the throne of the Virgin of Grace (which remains in the church of San Juan de Dios) for the occasion.

The Virgin of the Perils will be carried by 32 shelves, among them, members of the family that owns the carving.

On the other hand, the Archipelago of the Most Precious Blood gives the chapel of the Church of the Carmen in which, during the previous weekend, the assembly of the Virgin of the Perils on its throne will be prepared, until its exit towards the bridge the Tuesday 12, at 07.00.

The design of the portico that has installed this year the Department of Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation in the Old Bridge is more like the original arches that adorned the old city, thus recovering an old tradition of the September Fair.

It is composed of more than 6,000 floral elements: 4,000 bouquets, 1,500 staves, 1,000 eucalyptus branches, tinted river jopos, ivy and 200 meters of floral boxwood garlands.

It has dimensions of 10.5 meters wide by 12 meters high and stands on two columns of 6 meters and an arch of 9 meters in diameter that is crowned on both sides by two shields of the city of Murcia two meters high .
