A course from the University of the Sea informs on current trends in the art of socially compromised Internet "Internet, art and commitment" explores the creative possibilities of the Network (06/06/2017)

On June 16, the second edition of the course of the International University of the Sea-Campus Mare Nostrum "Internet, Art and Commitment" starts a course that explores the creative possibilities of the Internet and its capacity as modeling agent and social transformer through the practices Artistic activities.

This year it counts with the participation of Juan Martín Prada, Annie Abrahams, Ana Martínez Collado, Paolo Cirio, Celia Gradín, Fred Adam and Leonarda García.

It will be held on June 16,17 and 18 at the Puertas de Castilla Center in Murcia.

The activity is part of the summer courses of the University of Murcia.

The course aims to offer a practical vision of the art of contemporary internet, introduce the main concepts related to a socially committed art and with the resultant cybercriminal collaboration, to show students the current trends in internet art that favor reflection and action Citizen with respect to subjects such as ecology, gender and politics, to help in the development of the students' creativity and to involve students in the realization of a socially committed artistic project.

Juan Martin Prada will open the course talking about new poetics of dissent.

Doctor of the Complutense University of Madrid, Martín Prada is a researcher in art and new technologies, and author of the book "Artistic Practices in Internet in the era of social networks".

The artist Paolo Cirio (Golden Nica Ars Electronica prize) will be among the participants with the presentation "Activist Policies".

Conceptual artist, hacktivist and cultural critic, Paolo Cirio is considered one of the most outstanding Internet artists for embodying the ethical values ​​of hackers, such as open access and disruption of economic, legal and political models.

One of its most well-known actions was to expose more than 200,000 companies in the Cayman Islands on the high seas in 2013.

His early work includes cyber attacks against NATO and reporting on his military operations.

It combines the art of Internet with street art projects.

The course is aimed at students, university graduates and anyone interested in a creative and responsible use of new technologies in general and the Internet in particular.

Students enrolled will receive 2.5 credits of free configuration and 1 ECTS credit - CRAU.
