Let's change Murcia asks explanations to the municipal government for the fine to a homeless person (28/04/2017)

The councilor of Cambiemos Murcia, Margarita Guerrero, has demanded the Government team to "explain" the sanction filed by the Local Police to a homeless person, making an "abusive and arbitrary" interpretation of the Municipal Road Cleaning Ordinance.

For Guerrero, it is necessary to take responsibility for this action, which the RAIS Foundation, which works to ensure that no person lives on the street, denounced through social networks.

In the copy of the sanction reference was made to the aforementioned ordinance and it was described, in the section on observations, that the reasons for the fine were "to throw pipe shells in large quantities, use of cartons, utensils, chairs, etc."

For this reason, the mayor has directed an internal communication to the mayor and to the councilors of Traffic and Social Rights in which it claims the sanctioning file and that it is ex officio to review the sanction, with the aim of annulling it.

The municipalist formation has considered that the municipal regulations have been used to sanction a person "who was using the public way derived from its condition".

"The Administration, instead of being fined there, should increase its efforts to reduce the high levels of inequality and poverty that exist in the municipality," added Guerrero.

In its communication, Cambiemos Murcia has also requested that the local police officers be informed in the future so that homeless people who use the public road are not prosecuted.

Likewise, the mayor has insisted that these actions contribute to criminalize this group, normalizing "aporophobia".
