Approved the update of the protocol for the intervention of social services in cases of child neglect (28/04/2017)

The Governing Board of the City of Murcia has approved the new protocol of action for the intervention of social services professionals in cases of child unprotected neighborhoods and districts.

In this way, the Department of Social Rights, directed by Conchita Ruiz, updates the intervention protocol for mild or mild cases that establishes the work to be done with minors and their families to alleviate the situation of social inequality that may suffer.

The updated text includes new tools and criteria for assessing cases, coordination with child care services or improvements in the referral system for mild to moderate cases.

It also includes the typology of situations of deprotection and its definition, a system of indicators for detection, diagnosis and prognosis, based on the needs of the children as well as their level of satisfaction or deficiencies in their care, to which is added A system of indicators on symptoms or indications present in the various types of deprotection and that can be observed in the behavior of the minor, parents or guardians or in their environment.

In addition, there are 3 specialized teams, composed of a psychologist, an educator, a social worker and a legal adviser.

It has five sections

The document has been elaborated based on five important aspects for the evaluation and resolution of the cases of deprotection:

- Analysis of the legal regime of the intervention of the Municipal Social Services of Primary Care for the protection of minors in the Region of Murcia.

- Technical background that guides the intervention, actions and decision making of the Municipal Social Services of Primary Care.

- Protocol for the detection, evaluation and intervention in situations of child protection: technical teams;

Notification and receipt of the claim;

Background check;

Initial assessment;

Research and its participants;

Design, execution, follow-up and coordination with Specialized Social Services.

- Protocol of action in cases of child begging and the exercise of begging with minors.

- Annexes of support for the implementation of the Project.

Effective since 2013

The project has been in force since 2013 and has allowed for the attention each course of more than 350 family units and 1,400 minors with situations of mild deprotection and another 70 family units and 170 minors with situations of moderate lack of protection.
